What Social Media Should I Join As a Business Owner?

The website, American Drycleaner, recently released a survey of social media usage among drycleaners. They found that 52% of their respondents used social media, while 48% did not. Of those who responded: Social Media Use - 76.9% used Facebook on behalf of their businesses - 46.2% used LinkedIn - 46.2% used Twitter - 7.7% used MerchantCircle There are also some other interesting stats in the article, but the Editor of American Drycleaner writes: the "survey presents a snapshot of readers' viewpoints at a particular moment, it should not be considered scientific." Still, the results show there is a lot of growth for social media usage amongst our nation's local drycleaners and the local business owners that they represent. Click here to see the study results. Sincerely, Community Relations

As a business owner, some of the best social media to join are recruitment sites and job boards, as well as networking sites. As a business owner in the UK and Switzerland, using business networking sites like linkedin or xing and even recruitment sites monster or jobs. Even better are specialized sites like www.qual.ch for elite candidates. The business owner is of course not interested in seeking a job, but by registering on these sites and creating webmailer for certain types of jobs, he stays abreast of what top companies are recruiting. This is very interesting for the business owner who does business with large companies. For the system to work you have to identify elite recruitment sites becuase the big ones are full of agencies, so your webmailer is less useful. But sites like ¨www.qual.ch that have mainly big fortune 500 companies are helpful to the business owner for 'business intelligence.
